I just saw that James Doohan (Scotty on the original "Star Trek") has died. He was probably my favorite of the Star Trek actors that I've met. Such a warm, wonderful man. I remember that back in '72, when I went to the very first Star Trek convention in NYC, he gave me a piggy-back ride (I was 7 at the time.) and every other time I saw him, he was just the best. I can honestly say that I loved the man, I think. And now he's gone. And I'm sad. :(

Awww. And the poor bugger had Alzhiemers as well. That's a shitty way to go. I may not have seen the series when it first aired, but these are characters from my childhood as well, and it's sad to see them passing. According to Xinhua news, he'll have his ashes shot into space. :) A fitting 'burial', I think. So long Scotty.

I was lucky enough to meet him back in 1986 (?). He was an all-around gentleman, very kind, very polite and a joy to meet.
